Caring in Context: Poverty, Exclusion and Care
What is the role of social care among some of the most vulnerable groups in society? Why and how do their needs arise? And, how is poverty defined? This module will give you invaluable knowledge and insight into this fascinating subject. You’ll examine topics such as national strategies to combat exclusion, how the media reports social exclusion and poverty, and the major historical developments of policy making.
What does the module cover?
Gain insight into the European Union and national policy making bodies including government departments. Explore how poverty and social exclusion is experienced by differently defined groups, including children and young people, those who are experiencing homelessness, various forms of ‘ill health’ and unemployment. Finally, you’ll learn how to present basic statistical information relating to social care data.
