Multicultural & Global Citizenship

With increased globalisation, the idea of 'national citizenship' is fading? This module introduces you to the concept of citizenship existing as a global dimension.  It aims to give you the opportunity to consider the relationship between key concepts in political thought and the global dimension of citizenship.  Guest speakers will visit, to discuss the work they have been doing to raise awareness of issues relating to global citizenship.

What does the module cover?

Gain an understanding of the key issues relating to the global dimension of citizenship.  Recognise the concept of Citizenship within an historical and theoretical framework, and having multi-levels (global, national, and local). Analyse the relationship between identity and citizenship from a 'post-modernist' perspective.

You’ll need to complete a number of assessments as part of your coursework that can be forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

The summative assessment for this module is a coursework essay of 3,500-4000 words.
