Introductory Modules
1) Critical Reading and Writing
The aim of this module is to help you learn at the level of a degree student. By understanding how to critically engage with written texts and learning academic style, punctuation and grammar, you’ll develop and refine your knowledge – and you’ll also discover how to use the Learning Resource Centre. After taking this module, you’ll have all the skills and confidence you need for successful academic study.
2) Sociology of Education
This module will give you an overall understanding of the sociological issues in education. You will focus on the social context of human learning – looking particularly at inequality in an urban technological society. Covering the history and social context of education in the UK, and various sociological perspectives, you’ll look at how education is influenced by issues such as disability, race, gender and class.

Pre-requisites
Students must have access to an Internet ready PC with Microsoft Windows 98 or higher. It is also imperative that the student's PC is installed with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and they must be able to install their own packages.
Students must be 18 years old or over.
