Early childhood education

How childhood and the early years play a significant role in shaping behaviour.  Your childhood, early years and education can affect you for the rest of your life.  What about the impact of labelling, stereotyping and expectations on your early childhood education and subsequent behaviour?  The Understanding Behaviour module of this home study course looks at the causes of behaviour.

Childhood, early years and expectation

What impact does stereotyping, labelling and expectation have on behaviour and is it demonstrated in early childhood education?  This module of your home study course aims to give you an understanding of how these factors work in childhood.  Early years factors can have a bearing on the rest of a child's life and you will look at these in relation to challenging behaviour.

Early childhood education

During childhood, early years influences, such as teachers, can be crucial in determining behaviour of various kinds.  The Understanding Behaviour module of this home study course looks at ways in which labelling, stereotyping and expectation in early childhood education affect behaviour.  You will understand how the causes of challenging behaviour can often be attributed to childhood, early years experiences and the individual.

During this component of the home study course you will see how difficult behaviour must be seen in the context of childhood, early years influences and other factors.  You will be encouraged to critically examine early childhood education and its role in shaping behaviour.
