Child development theory and inclusion - home learning course

Feelings and practices of inclusion impact upon the personal, social and emotional development of children.  Recent government policy has focused on inclusion but this module of your home learning course examines what this means in practice for those professionals who work with children.

Personal, social and emotional development in children through inclusion

This component of your home learning course looks at how inclusion, through government legislation, has become an important aspect of policy development.  It affects all areas of education and intends to improve personal, social and emotional development in children.  What is its role in child development theory and what does the concept mean from a national perspective?

Inclusion as part of child development theory

Your home learning course has already looked at children's rights and child development theory.  As well as looking at the practical implications of the implementation of inclusion policies, this module will also teach you more about these areas.  This leads on to looking at how a multi-disciplinary approach can assist personal, social and emotional development in children.

Areas covered and personal, social and emotional development in children

Child development theory relating to inclusion will be studied on this part of your home learning course.  Among the other areas covered are; special education, current UK legislation on inclusion and the practical impact on personal, social and emotional development of children.
