Child care and education - skills to help you study learning in early years

Our child care and education home study course focuses on early childhood studies.  Learning in early years is something that affects an individual through their life.  The Critical Reading and Writing module helps to arm you with the skills necessary to learn at the level of a degree student.

Upon successful completion of this module you will be well placed to undertake the learning in early years home study course.  It will teach you how to approach texts relating to child care and education in an academic manner, develop study skills and hone your punctuation and grammar.

How this module relates to child care, and education and learning in early years

This module of your home study course will enable you to engage better with the learning in early years material.  You will also develop skills which you will be able to relate to child care and education and how young children develop and learn.

After completing this module you will be prepared for the academic rigours of your child care and education home study course.  You will also learn research and information skills which will stand you in good stead for a course focusing on learning in early years.

Critical Reading and Writing   

The aim of this module is to help you learn at the level of a degree student.  By understanding how to critically engage with written texts and learning academic style, punctuation and grammar, you’ll develop and refine your knowledge – and you’ll also discover how to use the Learning Resource Centre.  After taking this module, you’ll have all the skills and confidence you need for successful academic study.

Assessment
