How can computers help a child's social development?

Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) is a module of your home study course which evaluates the role of technology in education.  Any child development study must involve computers and it is vital to understand how technology can best be used in the interest of the child.  Social development can be supplemented by the use of computers in education and for that reason it is the responsibility of professionals to do so.

A computer-based child development study

This module makes particular reference to the role of CMC in higher education but also examines how it is used at all stages of a child's social development.  As part of your home study course you will examine any relevant child development study to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of CMC in education.

How is a child's social development affected by CMC?

An in depth analysis of teaching and learning in an online environment will be undertaken as part of your home study course.  This child development study will illustrate how CMC works in education delivery and a child's social development.

Can CMC only be used to supplement face-to-face teaching and would out-and-out replacement be detrimental to a child?  Social development surely relies on physical interaction and this makes for an interesting child development study.  These are just some of the questions arising from this part of your home study course.
