Research Project
This is your opportunity to carry out multidisciplinary research on a topic within the area of social care. After choosing an appropriate area to investigate, you’ll use suitable research methods (that meet the UEL ethics procedures) to participate in research activities. Finally, you’ll present your report which will demonstrate a critical awareness of the research topic – including social, technological and ethical contexts, and development of your own interests.
What does the module cover?
Learn how to construct a literature review and examine appropriate research methodologies. Engage in critical discussion of the theoretical debates relevant to your chosen research topic. Learn to think from a researcher’s perspective to critically evaluate the appropriateness of research methods to specific, real-life research problems. Critically reflect on data produced and on the ethical considerations. Gain a sound understanding of how to construct and implement a realistic research timetable, and effectively present research findings. You learn to give and receive constructive criticism, and to work as part of a group.
