Child development research and your distance study degree

Your home learning degree involves you undertaking a major research project and this module prepares you by arming you with the skills and knowledge to undertake it. Child development research is something you must embark upon when studying children. Studying early childhood years gives us a greater understanding of various aspects of the development of children.

Studying early childhood years

This module of your home learning degree is designed to teach you the skills necessary for studying the early childhood years. It will illustrate both the importance of child development research and how to best carry it out.

Conducting child development research

You will be introduced to knowledge and theory required for studying early childhood years in this part of your home learning degree. You will develop the skills for independent child development research including review and analysis. 

How to present an argument and express yourself when studying early childhood years will also be taught. These skills will be vital when you come to undertake your child development research project.

Studying early childhood years - outline and assessment

This module of your home learning degree is split into a number of sections. These focus on topics such as defining research, methodology and methods and ethics for carrying out child development research. Your understanding of studying early childhood years will be evaluated by a number of assignments and a final assessment.

Research Design and Method

Research is a fundamental part of studying and understanding children and their development – and this module will introduce you to a critical knowledge and understanding of this area. You’ll discover the skills required for independent academic research, including review, analysis, argument and self-expression. The module also examines issues such as methodology, method and ethics.  What you learn will be vital for your Research Project.

Assessment
