Multicultural and Global Citizenship - home learning education degree

Multicultural and Global Citizenship is an ICS home learning module that makes up part of a full honours education degree. 

This home learning module looks at citizenship from a global viewpoint. Multicultural and Global Citizenship asks if the notion of national citizenship is no longer relevant in today's international community. Topics include diasporic citizenship, post-modern and trans-modern notions of citizenship and anti-capitalism.

So, if you want to take a home learning module and study in your own time, Multicultural and Global Citizenship will allow you to develop the key knowledge required to go on to obtain a full education degree.

Multicultural and global citizenship

With increased globalisation, are we seeing the end of 'national citizenship' as an idea? This module introduces you to a global dimension of citizenship.  It aims to give you the opportunity to consider the relationship between key concepts in political thought and the global dimension of citizenship.  Guest speakers will visit, to discuss the work they have been doing to raise awareness of issues relating to global citizenship.

  - Post-modern and trans-modern notions of citizenship / citizenship and technology

>  Multicultural citizenship

  - Multiculturalism and citizenship: consensus and conflict
  - 'Liberal' multicultural citizenship
  - Diasporic citizenship and new forms of multicultural citizenship

Assessment


There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.

70% Written Assignment
30% Examination

Exam venues are located across the UK and exams take place in April and November.
