Introduction to Psychology 2
This module aims to introduce developmental psychology, including physiological and biological development and the development of thinking, intelligence and morals.
What does the module cover?
You’ll learn the importance of different social roles and explain how social pressure, prejudice and aggression develop. Explore how we develop into the people we are, with specific reference to the development of thinking, intelligence and morals, and the process of learning. Discuss physiological experiences including sleep and dreaming, biological rhythms, hunger and thirst, motivation and emotion. Evaluate the relevance of physiological and biological development to psychology and examine how individuals interact, drawing on relevant studies. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore themes in relation to personal experience.

Assessment
You’ll be required to complete a two 1500-word coursework essays each counting towards 30% of your grade. The two essays will require you to conduct further research on at least two of the learning outcomes. You’ll be required to demonstrate your understanding of the insight that psychology can give into the chosen topics. You’ll also need to complete a one hour pre-seen exam counting towards 40% of your grade. The examination will consist of one essay question which will assess your understanding of the material that you’ve learnt throughout the module.
