Diaspora Communities in the UK

Diaspora originally meant “sowing or scattering of seeds” and it describes any ethnic group that is dispersed throughout the world. Through this module, you’ll examine this phenomenon, looking at the historical, social and cultural contexts of transnational migration. As well as studying post-modern perspectives, you’ll consider your own personal views on issues such as multiculturalism and difference.

• Diaspora communities in the UK – their place in contemporary British society.

 

Assessment

There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.

30% Examination

Exam venues are located across the UK and exams take place in April and November.
