Fundamentals of Managerial Finance

Want to discover how to plan and control routine business operations?  This module gives a clear understanding of the various techniques used in financial decision-making, as well as a greater knowledge of the principles of management accounting.  You’ll also learn how to evaluate and appraise non-routine investment and acquisition decisions, and discover how to distinguish between management accounting, cost accounting and financial accounting.

What does the module cover?

Analyse the key concepts and techniques used in preparing accounting information for managerial planning and control and financial management.  Develop ability to evaluate the application of these key concepts and techniques, based upon research in the relevant literature.  Evaluate problems in managerial planning and control and financial management.  Finally, you’ll generate solutions to problems of managerial finance in report format.

Assessment

In addition to a number of formative assessments that you’ll need to complete as part of your coursework and forward to your tutor, you’ll also be required to complete two summative assessments, each counting towards 50% of your final grade which will be written reports – one analysing a case study in the area of managerial planning and control and the other in the area of financial management (both max 1,250 words).
