Intellectual Property
Intellectual property may simply be an idea, but it is more usually an artistic creation of some kind: this could be an image, a sound or even a smell. In today's world – where copyright, patenting and trade mark issues are crucial to business success – the protection of intellectual property is becoming increasingly important. In this module you’ll study the conflicting nature of intellectual property and its protection.
What does the module cover?
Understand the principles underlying copyright law, trade mark law, patent law, passing off and breach of confidence. Critically assess the role of intellectual property law. Examine the interest groups and their interests in relation to intellectual property. Read, analyse, understand and apply statutory rules and case law. Devise and undertake an individual research topic at the cutting edge of intellectual law development.
