NCFE Personal Safety Awareness - 1 day course

This course is about personal safety. It is designed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding personal safety in the home, the workplace and when out and about. Its purpose is not to frighten but to enlighten. Life is full of risk, the skill is in knowing when to take a risk and when not.

Through group and individual activities you will be encouraged to consider your own life style and identify areas that could potentially lead to concerns regarding your personal safety.

 

This is a one day group course only, you can not buy or study it on your own.  To discuss a group booking, please call.


Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course, although it is recommended that you either currently work in this discipline, or are interested in doing so.

Assessment

Each learner's progress throughout the day will be assessed by the Tutor, and at the end of the session, each learner will complete a multiple choice questionnaire which will be marked by the Tutor also.

What will I get?

You will be provided with an expert Tutor who will deliver the session face-to-face, provide course materials for each learner to keep, and provide individuals assessment throughout the day. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a NCFE IIQ Certificate.

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Consider your view on crime in you locality and how it affects personal safety
  • Consider the different ways people react to crime
  • Consider the agencies, groups, organisations and individuals that aim to reduce the anxiety of crime
  • Understand that taking safey precautions can make the home a secure place
  • Look at dealing with aggression in the workplace
  • Understand the personal safety implications when out and about
  • Gauge situations by reading body language
  • Understand your right to defend yourself using reasonable force.
