NCFE Drink and Drugs Abuse - 1 day course

The consequences of dependent use of drink and/or drugs to a person's normal health and social functioning are nearly always detrimental. This in turn is likely to have an impact on an individual's working life. This course is aimed at employers and their employees, who wish to educate their workforce about the potential impact of substance misuse on business and the effect that employees misusing drugs and alcohol can have on their safety, both themselves and their colleagues.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course, although it is recommended that you either currently work in this discipline, or are interested in doing so.

Assessment

Each learner's progress throughout the day will be assessed by the Tutor, and at the end of the session, each learner will complete a multiple choice questionnaire which will be marked by the Tutor also.

What will I get?

You will be provided with an expert Tutor who will deliver the session face-to-face, provide course materials for each learner to keep, and provide individuals assessment throughout the day. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a NCFE IIQ Certificate.

On completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • List the four main types of substances and give some examples of each
  • Understand the various effects on the mind and body of using psychoactive substances
  • Describe the more common signs and symptons attributable to substance use
  • Understand some of the legal aspects of drug and alcohol use
  • Develop an awareness of legislation and company policies relating to the use and misuse of drugs and substances
  • Develop understanding of the different attitudes and myths (the fiction) that have arisen in society relating to drugs and substances
  • Report suspected misuse in the workplace and be aware of possible outcomes.
