  • Examine all aspects of health and safety, including protective clothing and the safe use of tools and equipment. Examine the basic roadworthiness maintenance checks.

Engine Operation and Maintenance

  • Examine the components of the engine and consider the engine's servicing requirements.

Lubrication, Cooling and Fuel Systems

  • Examine the components of the lubrication system as well as the components of both single point and multipoint fuel injection systems. Study the operation of the pressure cap, the thermostat and the cooling fan. Learn how to maintain lubrication, cooling and fuel systems.

Ignition Systems

  • Explore both distributorless and direct ignition systems. Learn how to maintain ignition systems.

Exhaust Systems

  • Explore the exhaust system and the emission system, as well as their servicing requirements. Examine the different exhaust gases and their effects.

Transmission Systems

  • Explore clutch operation, gearbox operation, final drive operation, differential operation and drive shaft/half-shaft operation. Learn how to perform routine transmission system maintenance.
