IGCSE History

IGCSE History

An IGCSE History course is a fascinating study in its own right. But history study is valuable training in a number of ways, and can be useful for many careers. The study of history helps you to develop the skill to look behind the headlines, to ask questions properly and to formulate and express your own opinions. History study helps you make sense of other subjects and helps you understand the world we live in today and the origins of modern political and social problems: in short, the sort of skills most employers are looking for.

The History IGCSE will foster an understanding of selected periods and aspects of history, exploring the significance of historical events, people, changes and issues. You will learn to use historical sources critically and in context, recording significant information, reaching conclusions and making historical judgments. And you will learn to organise and communicate your knowledge and understanding of history.

Topics covered in IGCSE History can include American history, European history and British Colonial History. Periods studied can vary from the French Revolution up to recent conflict and change in the Middle East, and 20th century changes in China and Africa. And aspects can range from warfare to social changes to development of medicine.
