IGCSE Global Citizenship

IGCSE Global Citizenship

The IGCSE Global Citizenship course is aimed at developing an understanding of the key issues affecting the global community and how communities interact locally, nationally and globally. Increasingly the concept of global citizenship is making itself felt: when appeals go out encouraging people to act in some way to save the environment, whether it is to reduce fossil fuel use to avoid global warming, or limit toxic wastes dumped at sea, the appeal relies upon people having a sense of belonging and loyalty not just to a locality, but to the global community as a whole.

The IGCSE Global Citizenship will require you to demonstrate an understanding of the global community and the impact of power and politics. Through the course you will learn analytical and evaluation skills and an understanding of the political, environmental, social and technological issues in certain key areas, as well as local communities' rights and responsibilities.

In studying global citizenship you will learn how communities interact locally, nationally and globally and be enabled to participate in local community actions and understand the local community's impact on different scales.

Besides having the opportunity to undertake your own community action on a global issue, you will be able to consider local, national and global issues and study meaningful and accessible content, focusing on political, technological, environmental and social aspects.
