Electrical installers are some of the most in demand tradespeople in the construction industry, and the BTEC Electrical Installation course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need for electrical installation work. This industry-recognised BTEC Level 3 award will qualify you for work as a trainee electrical installer in domestic, commercial and industrial projects, ensuring that systems are efficiently planned, expertly installed and well maintained.

The BTEC Electrical Installation course will teach you the basic principles of electricity, such as its sources, units of measurement and methods of production. You'll also look at its various applications, in domestic, commercial and industrial settings.

An important part of the electrical training deals with the importance of health and safety.

Then you will learn wiring techniques and look at types of circuit and their application. You will also study a range of electrical design principles and look at the components used in circuits and how they function.

BTEC Electrical Installation also covers the regulatory framework that applies to the inspection and testing of various types of electrical installation, and the regulations and legislation relating to the provision of electricity in buildings.

You will also receive a Free Maths course - normally worth £79 - to help you with your calculations.


Entry Requirements

To enrol in the BTEC Electrical Installation course, you must be over 16 and educated to at least GCSE standard D-G or hold an NVQ at level 1, or a GNVQ Foundation Certificate.  Internet access is required.

Where will I go from here?

Once you've completed the BTEC Electrical Installation course, you'll hold an industry-recognised qualification that can take you into a trainee electrical installation role. Alternatively, you can progress to further study and enter the industry at a higher level.

Assessment

Assessments are a great way of checking your progress. During your BTEC Electrical Installation course, you'll complete one formative assessment, consisting of 12 multiple-choice questions and four scenario-based assignments.

Scenario-based assignments test that you can apply the knowledge you have learnt from the course to theoretical situations. Each assignment requires you to complete a number of questions or activities.

Multiple-choice assessments can be submitted online via the ICS Student Community: it's the fastest way to receive your results. Scenario-based assignments are submitted by post.
