BA (Hons) Criminology & Criminal Justice

BA (Hons) Criminology & Criminal Justice

The BA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice degree looks at the social and psychological aspects of crime and studies criminal law and the criminal justice system. It's an ideal qualification if you already work in the criminal justice system and want to progress, or if you wish to enter this field, in any of a number of roles.

The dual focus of the BA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice degree will allow you to gain an understanding of how the criminal justice system works as well as an insight into the sociological and psychological aspects of crime and punishment.

You will study criminal law and develop an understanding of the key concepts of the study of crime and criminal justice. At the same time you'll learn about the interdisciplinary nature of criminology and about the historical context of crime and punishment.

During your course in criminology and the criminal justice system, you will learn how to analyse, evaluate and interpret evidence, and about the use of legal concepts in practice.

You will also learn ways to improve your reasoning and critical thinking skills, and how criminological theory applies to criminal justice policy and practice.
