Course Overview
This course has been written especially for ICS by aviation experts for students to complete via distance learning. It comprises of five units, starting with an introduction to the aviation industry before covering the role and responsibilities of air cabin crew, health, safety and security and finally the all important recruitment application process.
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will be awarded a BTEC Level 2 Intermediate Certificate, from Edexcel, a nationally recognise awarding body.
The Aviation Academy
ICS has teamed up with The Aviation Academy, who uniquely specialise in training for the world of aviation and are based at Leeds-Bradford International Airport, to deliver face-to-face practical training for successful graduates from this course.
Exceptional staff will deliver this practical training with all the inside industry knowledge and contacts you’ll need and it will recap on the key topics studied during your course. For example, you will be sent an application form in advance for completion, plus a letter inviting you to take part in a rehearsal group interview, mirroring that of a real airline interview session. The letter will also contain details of the activities to be included and the topic for a short presentation, plus notice of a short test to be undertaken during the group mock interview. The test will use questions covered in your distance learning course.
Individual interviews will be undertaken immediately after the group session and at the end of the day, all students will receive individual feedback on the day’s sessions. A tutor will then review your readiness for employment as air cabin crew and formulate an action plan for the immediate future to help you achieve your employment ambitions.
Applications
Those students who have been successful throughout all the practical sessions will be invited to apply to airlines and expert advice will be on hand to help complete the application forms. The Aviation Academy will then forward the best applications to certain airlines.
Simulator Training
Successful students may also be invited to join a simulator-training day exercise at East Midlands Airport, where you will take part in simulation exercises on board a decommissioned plane.
Please note: Training with the Aviation Academy is not covered in your course fees.
